Our Methods

In a typical washing, the tools of the trade are power washing, chemicals, and elbow grease. These are the tried and true methods for getting stubborn grime and dried fat grease out of hard to reach areas. This labor-intensive work is the reason that sometimes our customers value the hard work our team puts in to get the jobs done.

We approach all of our jobs the same way: Staying focused on the highest quality of work and making sure that we do the same details for every commercial hood and kitchen equipment we service. We wanted to go over some of the details of what our work includes so let's take a minute or two to deep dive into the kind of service you can expect when you call the pros here at Colorado Springs Hood Cleaning.

One of the first things we do is to cover all of the items and equipment that are not being cleaned with heat boards. Then, for extra protection, we cover them in sheets of plastic to prevent them from getting wet or having the chemicals we use getting splashed on them. Another thing that we always consider is weather conditions. We or cold weather conditions can make our job harder and require more chemicals and water pressure to get the grease and grime off of the metal surfaces.

Next, we remove all of the cups and plates and accessory items from the kitchen and shut down all power to the room and turn off all the equipment. And in some cases we will even lock out the equipment meaning we will place a plastic wrap seal preventing the kitchen oven or grill from being turned on without breaking the seal. This is used for extra protection for your kitchen equipment.

No Detail Left Undone

We enclose the kitchen exhaust hood system in watertight plastic wrapping. We are especially careful to drape the plastic in such a way to drain the water down into the drain to make sure that it gets into our wastewater capture and containment system. Before the pressure washing can begin, we need to disassemble the exhaust fan housing on the roof. This is a great opportunity for us to check the spread of rooftop grease, and see if the roof needs any work on containing grease that has made its way into the structure of the building which can be very dangerous.  Once the fan and electric wiring ins removed we can begin the pressure washing. But before high-pressure water comes into play, we use a de-bonding and de-greasing chemical agent to break down the grease to make it easier to wash away and disintegrate when the pressure washer is applied. While this is done we use the same chemicals to degrees and hand wash the fan blades and any other parts that we are not going to be able to wash with the hoses. The pressure de-grease is then done down to the bare metal. Once that is finished we go back with a metal and steel polish and polish the surface to get a great shine and a new condition back into the exhaust unit
